Nothing Is Impossible

Yesterday, in our Read Together journey, we took a look at Genesis 8-11, ending on the story of Babel. I am continually fascinated by the words of the Creator as he takes in the scene.

“If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.” – Genesis 11:6 NIV

Being created in the image of God, Humans are uniquely equipped to create as well. The Lord says in this passage that nothing we do will be impossible when we’re united in our language, which is a profound observation. The way we speak has the power to unite us and the power to divide us and, here in Genesis, at the beginning of the story, we are reminded that our words are not to be casually thrown away. Our words will accelerate us toward each other and building each other up in Christ, or they will accelerate us toward division.

In June this past year, we kicked off a series called TRIBE where we looked at what it means to go from being individuals defining separate ideals to being a people called together according to God’s purposes. It was absolutely my favorite series we’ve done, and I continuously see unity as the thing that we must strive for most as the people of God. I had the privilege to discuss “Language” further with our whole community at that time and would like to invite you to take a minute to rediscover again the power of our words as you watch the video below.

I can’t wait to continue reading together with you. Don’t forget to share your thoughts and get others involved as we go deep in the word together.
